Summary
Once upon a time, there was a brave warrior named Yuriwaka. He wielded an iron bow measuring eight shaku and five sun, and his name resonated across countless battlefields. One day, to confront the invasion of the Korean army, Yuriwaka set sail with a thousand subordinates, seeing off his wife, Princess Kasuga.
"Don’t let your guard down until you return safely," said Princess Kasuga.
The battle began off the coast of Tsushima, where Yuriwaka shot arrows, defeating enemies one after another. The moment he struck down the enemy's leader, the enemy retreated. Confident in his victory, Yuriwaka found that many of his subordinates had lost their lives. Exhausted, he decided to rest on the nearest deserted island.
However, when he awoke, his subordinates had disappeared. Yuriwaka realized their betrayal and learned that he had been abandoned on the deserted island.
In Episode II, Yuriwaka survived by catching fish and gathering seaweed on the deserted island. Every day, he called out for Princess Kasuga. "Princess Kasuga, I will definitely return! Please wait for me!" Meanwhile, the Beppu brothers brought Yuriwaka's armor and deceitfully told Princess Kasuga, "I have sad news. Lord Yuriwaka was shot by the enemy and has lost his life."
Princess Kasuga could not believe it and continued to wait for her husband, but she grew weak both physically and mentally. Two years passed, and she released a hawk, but only a hawk named "Midori Maru" returned to her, constantly thinking of her.
During that time, Yuriwaka had changed due to the harsh conditions, but he tied a leaf with his name to Midori Maru, searching for a way to convey his message to Princess Kasuga. Midori Maru managed to return, and Princess Kasuga discovered the letter. "Yuriwaka is alive!" she rejoiced, but the path to reunion was fraught with challenges.
In Episode III, Yuriwaka, helped by a fisherman, introduced himself as "Koke Maru" and appealed against the tyranny of the Beppu brothers. He regained his strength and took revenge on the brothers at the yabusame (mounted archery) event. Rising up, he shouted, "Listen, everyone! I am Yuriwaka!" and defeated the brothers using his bow.
Finally, he reunited with Princess Kasuga, shouting, "I've finally found you, Kasuga!" The two embraced and shared stories of their sorrow and struggles.
"You suffered for my sake..." said Princess Kasuga. Yuriwaka caught her tears and vowed, "From now on, let us live together." The joy of their reunion marked the beginning of a new future for them.
