Summary

The Village of Hachizaiku and the Seven Poor

Once upon a time, there were five villages nestled at the foot of a mountain. Among them, the village that drew special attention was Hachizaiku Village. The villagers were all skilled and possessed various special talents. Whether it was woodworking, pottery, sewing, cooking, or archery, each skill was top-notch. However, because each villager had many skills, they could not focus on one thing, and as a result, everything ended up being half-hearted.

One day, a traveler arrived at the village square. He said to the villagers, "If you can utilize your dexterity and master one thing, you will surely be able to surpass the other villages. It is important to organize, cooperate, and learn together." However, the villagers, believing that each of them was special, continued to immerse themselves in their own preferred activities without heeding his words.

Months passed, and change came to Hachizaiku Village. The square, usually bustling with activity, fell silent, and the villagers were busy with some unproductive work. This was because they were gradually becoming poorer and starting to lose to the other villages. As the traveler had said, without focusing on one thing, success could not be achieved, and the entire village's economy was visibly declining.

Gradually, the villagers remembered the traveler's words and recognized the importance of serious effort. Even though each individual had special skills, by cooperating as a team, Hachizaiku Village underwent a rebirth. They learned the lesson that "to nurture a single plant, one must first strengthen its roots." Eventually, the village prospered, and the villagers were able to lead fulfilling lives.
