Summary
By a quiet lake, there was a duck egg. Unlike the other ducklings that hatched with it, the chick that emerged from this egg was very ugly. The other ducks quickly scorned this "ugly duckling" and ostracized him.
He suffered from the way he looked, was chased away from the flock, and received cold treatment from various animals. Because of this, he didn't even know where he belonged and began a lonely journey. However, when winter passed and spring arrived, he one day saw beautiful swans flying in a formation. He then noticed his reflection in the water and was astonished. He had become a beautiful swan himself. As he reflected on the suffering he had endured, he suddenly realized and understood his true form and value.
