"Build a Fence Around Your Affection" Story
Once upon a time, in a small village, there were two close friends named Takeru and Miyu. They did everything together and were famous in the village for their friendship. However, Takeru had a bit of an overbearing personality and often intruded too much into Miyu's matters.
One day, Miyu began a new hobby: painting. Excitedly sharing this with Takeru, he exclaimed, "In that case, I'll choose the paints for you!" Though slightly taken aback, Miyu accepted Takeru's goodwill. Takeru then brought one color after another, ultimately deciding on what Miyu would paint.
In her heart, Miyu thought, "Isn't this a bit too intrusive?" Yet, appreciating her friend's intentions, she began to paint with the colors provided to her. However, midway through, the landscape Miyu wanted to depict didn’t match the colors Takeru had chosen, and her work was at risk of being ruined. So, she mustered up the courage to say to Takeru, "Takeru, I want to paint in my own way. I’d appreciate a little more freedom."
Through his repeated mistakes, Takeru realized that although he meant well for Miyu, he was actually taking away her freedom. Therefore, he said, "Got it! Paint however you like. I'll try to step back a bit." Thus, Takeru reflected on his actions, and Miyu could paint freely. Eventually, their friendship deepened, and the lesson "Build a Fence Around Your Affection" took root in their hearts.
