Summary
To Curse or to Love?
Once upon a time, there was a young man named Taro who lived in a peaceful village. Taro was the most handsome guy in the village and was incredibly popular among the village girls. However, Taro was captivated by one girl, Saki. Saki was cheerful and bright, always with a smile on her face, and was a stunning beauty. Yet, Taro could not confess his feelings to Saki.
One day, Taro resolved to confess his love to Saki, but unfortunately, his best friend Ken appeared before her. Ken accidentally asked Saki, “What do you think of Taro?” Saki replied with a laugh, “Taro is kind, but he’s a bit shy.” Hearing these words made a swirl of uneasy emotions rise in Taro's heart. “Why is it Ken and not me...!” he thought.
Out of love, Taro found himself feeling jealousy towards Ken and whimsically thought, “If I have to lose cute Saki, I might as well put a curse on him!” However, the grudge that began to sprout in Taro’s heart slowly tainted his feelings, as if under a magical spell. Taro realized, “So this is what it means to curse in thought.”
Eventually, fueled by his growing resentment, Taro found the courage to confess to Saki. “Saki, I actually like you!” At that moment, Saki, taken aback, responded with a gentle smile, “Really? I liked Taro too!” Taro was surprised and felt his jealousy, which had nearly disappeared, gradually fade away. In the end, although Taro had feelings that made him want to curse, he ultimately recognized that love conquers all. Thus, the two became a happy couple, and the villagers continued to share their delightful story for generations to come.
