A Satirical Tale: The Poisonous Feast

Once upon a time, in a small village, there were two shops called the "Sake Shop" and the "Women’s Shop." Both shops were indispensable to the villagers, but according to local lore, it was said, "Women and sake are poisonous." The villagers, keeping this in mind, frequented the shops every day.

One day, Taro, the owner of the sake shop, fell in love with Hanako, the beautiful daughter of the women’s shop. However, Hanako was somewhat mysterious, and the village rumors whispered that her charm was laced with poison. Unable to shake off his feelings, Taro decided to drink a lot and muster the courage to confess his love. However, in his drunken state, he spilled incoherent words and ended up receiving nothing but cold glares from Hanako.

That night, the village held a grand feast. Both the sake shop and the women’s shop collaborated to provide the villagers with the finest sake and dishes for entertainment. However, Taro drank excessively and was captivated by Hanako’s beauty. He kept drinking and eventually lost his senses, making a fool of himself in front of Hanako. The villagers burst into laughter at the sight, reinforcing the truth about sake and women.

After the feast ended, Taro reflected on his actions. He truly understood that "Women and sake are poisonous." After that, he decided to cut back on drinking and tried to forget Hanako. Having grasped the old village saying, he vowed to discern what was truly important in order to protect his heart in the future. The villagers, too, learned the same lesson, and the village gradually began to move forward with a new resolve.
