Summary
Bitten by the Pet Dog
In a certain town, there was an elderly couple who ran a small shop. The husband, Taro, had a very gentle and calm personality. On the other hand, the wife, Hanako, was extremely hardworking and labored day and night to make the shop prosperous. Hanako especially cherished the black dog named "Pochi" that Taro adored, giving him treats every day. However, Pochi gradually became spoiled and turned into a nuisance for the shop.
One day, Hanako was cleaning in front of the shop with Pochi by her side. At that moment, some mischievous kids from the town came by and played pranks on Pochi. Hanako was furious and scolded Pochi, saying, "Get it together, Pochi!" However, at that moment, Pochi unexpectedly retaliated and bit Hanako's hand. Surprised, Hanako stared in disbelief, thinking to herself, "I can't believe I got bitten by Pochi, whom I cherished!"
After that incident, Hanako began to keep a little distance from Pochi. Customers who came to the shop started to notice that Hanako was secretly avoiding Pochi, and it was clear that their relationship had become awkward. On the other hand, Pochi seemed completely unaware of the consequences of his actions. His daily treats decreased, and he gradually lost his vitality. Seeing this, Hanako started to think, "Maybe I should forgive him because he's still cute."
One night, Hanako dreamt that Pochi apologized to her, saying, "I'm sorry, Hanako. I don't dislike you. I was just a little tired." When she woke up, she gently hugged Pochi and said, "I'll forgive you once more." Since then, their relationship returned to normal, and the front of the shop was filled with smiles and laughter. Both Hanako and Pochi were able to understand their feelings and build a better relationship. This incident became an important lesson for them, teaching them the meaning behind "bitten by the pet dog."
