Summary
Under the blue sky and vast green grasslands, Dorothy Gale lives quietly in a small house in the countryside of Kansas with her faithful black dog, Toto. One day, a fierce tornado suddenly engulfs their home, and when Dorothy and Toto awaken, they find themselves in a mysterious land they've never seen before. Their house is lifted into the sky, leading them to the magical country of Oz.
Eventually, their house settles in the Golden City, home to the great Wizard of Oz, but the landing causes the evil witch beneath their feet to burn to ashes. This event puts the land of Oz in danger of being controlled by new influential forces. Determined to find a way back to Kansas, Dorothy receives advice from Glinda, the Good Witch of the South, and decides to journey to meet the great wizard Oz who resides in the Emerald City.
Along the way, Dorothy first meets the Scarecrow, who considers himself lacking in intelligence and seeks a wise mind. Next, she encounters the Tin Woodman, who feels he has lost his heart and joins the journey to regain his emotions. Then, they meet the Cowardly Lion who seeks courage, and together they help each other as they make their way to the Emerald City.
Upon arriving at the Emerald City, they learn that Oz is not a great wizard but an ordinary person. They realize that fulfilling their wishes requires inner strength: the Scarecrow has wisdom, the Tin Woodman has a heart, and the Lion possesses true courage. Dorothy herself understands that the bond with her family and friends is what matters most in returning home.
Ultimately, Oz grants them what they need, and guided by Glinda, Dorothy sets out for the journey back to Kansas.
