Summary

The Abalone’s Unrequited Love

One day, an abalone, a kind of shellfish living by the quiet coast, fell in love at first sight with a beautiful fish swimming in the ocean. She was captivated by its graceful movements and secretly watched the surface of the sea every day, harboring feelings for it. However, the abalone could only cling silently to the rock and could not swim out on her own.

The abalone confided her feelings to her friend, the crab. “Hey, Mr. Crab. I want to meet that fish. But how can I confess my feelings?” The crab laughed and said, “How can you make your love a reality when you can’t even go into the ocean? You need to take action first!”

Encouraged by the crab's words, the abalone decided to jump into the sea. However, she was swept away by waves deeper than she had expected and desperately tried to return. At that moment, the beautiful fish appeared right in front of her. The abalone’s heart raced as she waited for the moment to express her feelings. But before she knew it, the fish disappeared into the depths of the ocean.

In the end, the abalone returned to her rock without being able to convey her feelings. She sighed, saying, “My unrequited love is like a bubble carried away by the waves.” Still, a faint longing for the fish remained in her heart. This story teaches us that nothing starts without action, but sometimes, simply having feelings for someone can be important in itself.
