Summary

The Adventure of the Shakuhachi and the Boy

In a certain town, there lived a little boy named Kenta. One day, Kenta found an old shakuhachi. "I want to play wonderful music with this!" he thought, and immediately picked up the shakuhachi. However, his first attempt proved to be a daunting challenge for him. No sound came out, and when it did, it was just strange noises. Though his friends laughed, Kenta didn't give up and continued to practice.

For the first three years, Kenta faced the shakuhachi every day. He played until late at night, isolating himself in the park to produce sound. At first, only tortured sounds echoed, but gradually the notes began to take shape, and his efforts started to bear fruit. "Look, listen! I made a good sound today!" he became more confident. Those around him watched his growth and slowly started to admire Kenta.

However, a wall loomed ahead that he would still need eight years to overcome in order to play with a sorrowful melody. His friends always suggested fun games, but Kenta replied, "Now is the time to aim for my dream music!" and immersed himself in practice. Dreaming of the day he could produce beautiful sounds, he continued to strive. The people around him were moved by his determination and gradually came to love his music.

Eight years passed, and Kenta finally reached the realm of "korohachinen." The shakuhachi sounds he produced transformed into heart-touching melodies. The townspeople gathered to listen to his music, and Kenta was able to bring happiness to everyone through his art. "No matter how long it takes, effort will surely be rewarded," he felt deeply in his heart while continuing to let the sounds of the shakuhachi resonate.
