Summary

The Tale of the Mysterious Pond

Once upon a time, there was a mysterious pond in a certain village. In that pond swam a golden fish that could grant wishes, unlike ordinary fish. However, catching that fish required extraordinary effort. The villagers would say, "You cannot catch a fish from the pond without hard work," and gathered at the pond's edge with fishing rods, yet not a single person managed to catch a fish.

One young man in the village, Taro, was deeply interested in this proverb. He decided, "If wishes can come true, then I will give it a try." Every morning, Taro woke up early to draw water from the pond, cut the grass around it, and make fishing rods. He never gave up and continued his daily efforts. The villagers were amazed by his determination and gradually began to support him.

Months passed, and finally, Taro stood at the edge of the pond with his fishing rod, pouring his strong feelings into his heart. "I want to catch the fish from this pond. Please grant my wish." At that moment, ripples spread, and a golden fish appeared from within the pond. Taro pulled up his fishing rod and successfully caught the fish. The villagers cheered, but then something astonishing happened.

The golden fish spoke to Taro. "I have been watching your efforts. I want to grant you what you truly desire. However, only you, who is struggling, knows what wish you possess." Taro was taken aback by these words and immediately reflected on his own heart. He continued to work hard alongside the villagers, and eventually, the entire village became prosperous. From then on, the golden fish in the pond appeared only to those who put in the effort.
