Summary
The Great Adventure of the Chick
In a certain village, there lived a male chick named Hiyo-chan. He always dreamed, “I want to become a magnificent chicken too.” The village's specialty was chickens, and every day Hiyo-chan watched them with envy. However, he did not make any effort toward his dream and sought immediate results instead.
One day, the village sage said to Hiyo-chan, “Chicks are counted in autumn. Now is not the time to witness your growth.” Although Hiyo-chan doubted those words, he remembered stories from the past and decided to reflect on himself a little. He came to realize that becoming the chicken he dreamed of needed time without rushing.
From then on, Hiyo-chan played with his fellow chicks every day, searched for food, and grew up freely under the sun. The other chicks saw him and said, “Hiyo-chan, you seem to be having fun lately.” As the seasons changed, Hiyo-chan grew day by day and began to gain confidence.
When autumn came, Hiyo-chan finally looked up at himself as a magnificent chicken and smiled, saying, “It feels like my dream has become reality.” The villagers praised his growth and came to understand the meaning of “Chicks are counted in autumn” through their own experiences. Hiyo-chan learned something important in chasing his dreams and spent every day with smiles alongside his companions.
