The Secret of the Talented Hawk

Once upon a time, there was a small village surrounded by lush green mountains. In this village lived a mysterious bird known as the "hawk." This hawk was overwhelmingly larger than other birds and possessed beautiful feathers, but for some reason, it did not show its beauty to the people and quietly lived at the top of the mountain.

The villagers knew of the hawk's existence, but they hardly ever saw it. Occasionally, they would catch a glimpse of a shadow flying in the sky, but it was uncertain whether it was truly the hawk. However, there was a legend in the village that spoke of the hawk's power. It was said that when the village faced a crisis, the hawk would appear to help the people.

One day, a large swarm of rats descended on the village and began to ravage the crops. The villagers were at their wit's end, and they knew they had to do something to drive the rats away. At that moment, an elder of the village suggested, "Let’s try to summon the hawk. But for that, we must take some special action ourselves." The villagers, gathering their courage, came together at the mountaintop in the middle of the night and sang a powerful song.

Then, a wonderful thing happened. A star shining in the night sky transformed into the shape of the hawk and began to soar above the village. The hawk had heard the villagers' song. For a moment, the hawk looked down at the village and then, in the blink of an eye, flew off toward the swarm of rats. After that, thanks to the hawk's power, the village was saved, and the rats vanished.

Through this event, the villagers deeply understood the meaning of the proverb "a wise hawk hides its claws." The hawk did not boast about its power; it took a step forward to help the village.
