Taro the Dragon Boy Images

Summary

Once upon a time, in a mountain village, there lived a grandmother and a child named Taro. Taro asked his grandmother about his mother, but she told him, "I will tell you when you get a little bigger," and he had to be patient.

On a summer day, Taro swam in the lake with the village children. He swam freely, and his friends told him, "You can swim fast because you are the child of a dragon." Those words stayed in his heart.

One day, while Taro was working in the fields, a villager asked him to help divert water from the lake to create a wide rice field. Taro decided to take on the challenge.

Years later, as Taro grew up, his grandmother revealed the truth to him. "Your father is a white dragon living in the mountains, and your mother is a rhinoceros dragon living in the lake. You are a child of the gods. Please divert the lake water to grow rice," she said.

Taro expressed his gratitude for what he had been told and vowed to work together with his mother to divert the lake's water. The next day, when he called for his mother by the lakeside, the lake stirred, and the dragon appeared. "Taro, I have been watching you grow up wonderfully. I have never forgotten you for a single day," his mother said.

Taro conveyed his desire to see his mother and expressed his wish to repay the villagers by diverting the lake water. The mother dragon agreed, and they decided to cooperate.

The mother dragon warned that they would collide with a rock and that her eyes might be hurt, but Taro held on tightly to her back. With all her might, the mother dragon crashed into the rock, and finally, the rock shattered, causing the lake's water to flow out like a waterfall. Then, Taro and the mother dragon ascended to the heavens.
